OnePlus has started teasing some of the features of its upcoming smartphones. In a post on the official OnePlus forum, CEO Pete Lau confirmed that the OnePlus 8 series will be powered by the latest high-end chipset from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 865, which offers a 25% increase in performance and power efficiency.

The OnePlus 8 smartphones will also support 5G out of the box, but it remains to be seen if OnePlus enables in India as 5G does not exist here yet.

Lau also posted a video that demonstrates a blur-free video playback experience on a 120Hz display. He says that a dedicated chip (MEMC) allows OnePlus to offer this smooth experience. In other words, the OnePlus 8 Pro likely comes with a top of the line display that competes with premium flagships like the Galaxy S20 Plus.

The OnePlus 8 smartphones will also feature fast memory and storage – coupled with the flagship chipset, this should keep the performance smooth.

Some reports also suggest that the OnePlus 8 Pro could come with two 48MP cameras on the back apart from the two secondary cameras. The Pro sibling will lose the pop-up selfie camera though – OnePlus is instead opting for a punch hole notch that will house the 16MP selfie camera.
